Cape town: The Just Energy Transition (JET) Concert, a highlight of the upcoming African Energy Week (AEW) Conference and Exhibition this October, has announced its 2026 line-up, bringing together some of the continent's established and emerging musical talent for an evening celebrating African energy, culture, and creativity.
According to African Press Organization, the event, scheduled to take place at the Grand Africa Caf© and Beach in Cape Town on Monday, October 12 from 18:00 to 23:00, will feature performances by Keasungs, Mafikizolo, Roga Roga and Extra Musica, and DJ Dollar. Nigerian singer and songwriter Adekunle Gold will headline the concert, officially kick-starting AEW 2026, which runs from October 12-16 in Cape Town.
Headlining the concert is Nigerian Afropop star Adekunle Gold, known for blending contemporary African pop with sounds rooted in Nigerian musical traditions. His sixth studio album, "Fuji," released in October 2025, marked a return to the sounds that shaped his upbringing in Lagos. His appearance at the AEW stage is set to close the evening with a celebration of African music's ability to connect local heritage with global audiences.
South African duo Mafikizolo, comprising Nhlanhla Mafu and Theo Kgosinkwe, will bring over two decades of Afro-pop, kwaito, and house music to the concert. Known for hits like "Ndihamba Nawe," "Love Potion," and "Khona," Mafikizolo has played a significant role in cross-border African collaborations, working with artists such as Nigeria's Davido and Zimbabwe's Jah Prayzah. Their presence adds a distinctly South African dimension to the concert, showcasing the continent's musical diversity.
From the Republic of Congo, Roga Roga will bring Congolese rumba, soukous, and ndombolo to Cape Town. Co-founding Extra Musica in the early 1990s, Roga Roga continued the group's legacy with memorable tracks like "€°tat-Major," "Shala," and "Trop c'est trop." His performance at the JET Concert brings over three decades of Congolese musical influence to a line-up representing multiple African regions.
Nigerian artist Keasungs, known for his Afrobeats-inspired and dance-oriented sounds, will join the line-up. His catalogue includes tracks like "Ku Lo Sa (Dancehall Afro Cover)" and recent 2026 releases "Na Woman Finish My Papa" and "Nkpigamy." His inclusion alongside established acts reflects the concert's blend of emerging and established African talent.
Returning to the JET Concert is DJ Dollar, who performed at the 2025 edition with artists such as Young Stunna and Uncle Waffles. He will bring a DJ-led element to the 2026 program, complementing live performances and connecting a mix of African musical styles. His return represents continuity between successive editions of an event integral to the AEW networking and cultural program.
The JET Concert aims to connect Africa's cultural influence with its energy ambitions, setting the stage for five days of investment discussions at AEW 2026. During the event, African governments, energy companies, financiers, and technology providers will convene to advance projects and partnerships across oil, gas, power, renewables, and infrastructure.
