Cape town: The nominees for the African Energy Week (AEW) 2026 recognize the companies, projects, and individuals driving innovation, investment, and growth across Africa's energy sector. Featuring 12 categories spanning the full energy value chain, the awards celebrate the achievements shaping the continent's energy future.
According to African Press Organization, winners will be announced during the AEW 2026 Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony, taking place on Tuesday, October 13, in Cape Town. The ceremony will bring together ministers, industry leaders, investors, and technology providers to recognize excellence in upstream, downstream, gas, power, local content, technology, and corporate leadership.
The category of African Service Provider of the Year highlights nominees such as GeoEnergy Group for its digital transformation efforts through the Egypt Upstream Gateway, and One Titanium for its specialized services supporting Africa's energy industry. Other notable nominees include KAESO, SONILS, and NIPEX, each recognized for their contributions to strengthening local technical expertise and supply chain services.
In the International Service Provider of the Year category, companies like NOV and SBM Offshore are acknowledged for their engineering and equipment solutions supporting major energy developments. Geoex MCG, Africa Global Logistics, Technip Energies, and SLB are also contenders, praised for their roles in advancing offshore exploration and logistics.
The Local Content Champion categories honor both African and international companies. Seplat Energy and Copia Group of Companies are among the African firms lauded for their workforce and local talent development efforts. International companies like TotalEnergies Uganda and NOV are recognized for their initiatives in local skills development.
EandP Leader of the Year nominees include Shell for its discoveries in Namibia and Egypt, and Renaissance Africa Energy with NNPCL for the JK-004 discovery in Nigeria. Murphy Oil, Eni, OMV, and Libyas National Oil Corporation are also celebrated for their exploration successes.
The Refinery Project of the Year category sees Dangote Refinery and Cabinda Oil Refinery nominated for their roles in transforming refining capacities in Nigeria and Angola. Other infrastructure projects like the East African Crude Oil Pipeline and African Atlantic Gas Pipeline are noted for their strategic importance.
In the Deal of the Year category, Trafigura's oil prepayment agreement with Gabon and Levene Energies' stake acquisition in Axxela are highlighted. Heirs Energies and UTM FLNG are also recognized for their landmark transactions.
The CSR Project of the Year category includes Mozambique LNG and South African National Petroleum Company for their community support initiatives. Other nominees include Kosmos Energy Ghana, Sonangol, Eni, and Oando Foundation.
For the Gas Monetization Award, Levene Energies, NOV APL Norway, Congo LNG, and Amufert are acknowledged for their roles in advancing gas commercialization and LNG production.
Technology Innovator nominees such as TotalEnergies and SOLA Group are recognized for their digital and renewable energy innovations. Shearwater, TGS, and Starlink are also mentioned for their seismic data and connectivity advances.
Lastly, the Power Africa Developer category includes TotalEnergies, Siemens Energy, Globeleq, and Infinity Power for their contributions to renewable energy and power infrastructure developments across Africa.
