BogandE Community Effort Revitalizes Damaged RN18 Road Section

Ouagadougou: Members of the BogandE Citizen Watch, with the assistance of local traders, initiated rehabilitation work on a section of National Road No. 18 (RN18) which was damaged by rain. This initiative began on Saturday, September 13, 2025, between the ONEA and CEB services, as observed by the AIB.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the road, which also serves sector 3 of BogandE, posed a hazard to travelers due to severe rain damage. Community members, including men, women, and youth, came together with tools such as shovels, wheelbarrows, and bags of gravel, utilizing tricycles to fill potholes and reinforce the road surface.

A member of the citizen watch stated, “It had become difficult to get around here, especially for two-wheeled vehicles. We decided not to wait for outside intervention.” The local traders welcomed this initiative and contributed logistical and material support.

Several traders expressed appreciation for the community’s efforts and urged relevant authorities to provide a long-term solution. Tinguier LankoandE, president of the BogandE civic watch council, expressed gratitude to participants for their efforts and encouraged continued involvement in upcoming activities.

Such community-driven initiatives are common in BogandE, reflecting the challenges faced by many communities in maintaining road infrastructure.
