Koudougou: The Koudougou Regional Hospital Center (CHR) recently welcomed a significant gesture of goodwill from the People’s Republic of China. The Chinese Ambassador, Zhao Deyong, along with the 7th Chinese medical delegation, donated a substantial amount of medical equipment to the hospital.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event included not only the formal handover of the equipment but also press interactions and a tribute to Chinese doctors who have passed away in the city. The representative of the CHR Director General expressed deep appreciation for the ambassador’s visit, viewing it as a testament to the strong cooperation between China and Burkina Faso. The representative noted that the donated equipment would greatly enhance patient care and voiced a desire for continued collaboration.
Ambassador Zhao Deyong highlighted the longstanding medical collaboration between the two nations, which began in 1976. He mentioned that over 200 Chinese doctors have been involved in 16 missions, contributing to lifesaving efforts and the training of local healthcare professionals.
During the visit, Ambassador Zhao specified that the donations included medical equipment valued at 4.5 million CFA francs and financial support for expanding the pediatric department, totaling 32 million CFA francs. The ambassador concluded by stating that the partnership between the two countries’ leaders is ushering in a new phase of health cooperation, promising improved well-being for both populations.
