Kourittenga Youth Gather for Diocesan Youth Days Celebration

Koupela: The city of Koupela was filled with the spirit of faith and unity from August 22 to 24, 2025, during the Diocesan Youth Days (JDJ), an event organized by the Archdiocese of Koupela. The celebration concluded with a mass at the students’ home on Sunday, August 24, 2025.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the closing mass was a moment of gathering and prayer. The Koupela student center hosted the event, where young people and the faithful expressed their thanksgiving to God through singing and dancing. United in prayer, participants asked for a better future for Burkina Faso.

The homily emphasized the importance of youth as a driving force for change and peace in the country. Young attendees were encouraged to be active witnesses of the faith, promote social cohesion, and work for peace, reflecting on the 125 years of graces offered by God to the archdiocese.

During the three-day event, participants engaged in various training workshops, including breeding, painting, and decoration. They also attended a conference on choosing a spouse for marriage. Ars¨ne Sawadogo, communications and external affairs officer of the national office of Catholic youth in Burkina Faso, stated that these sessions aim to equip young people with the tools necessary to contribute to the development of their country while remaining faithful to their faith.

Participants welcomed the initiative and expressed their satisfaction with the knowledge gained. Elodie Kabore, a young participant from the parish of Saint Albert the Great, shared her enthusiasm, stating that the knowledge acquired will help her start a small activity back home. She encouraged other young people to participate in future events to benefit from similar opportunities.

The Diocesan Youth Days in Koupela, held under the theme “Young people of the Archdiocese of Koupela, witnesses of 125 years of grace, hand in hand let us build a Burkina Faso of peace and social cohesion,” strengthened the faith, commitment, and determination of the youth of Kourittenga to build a peaceful Burkina Faso.
