Maracana Tournament Unites Defense and Security Forces in Koudougou

Boulkiemde: The Centre A and B schools in Koudougou hosted the launch of the first edition of the maracana tournament called ‘committed patriots’ this Saturday. Organized by the association “Mon Faso d’abord”, this sporting event aims to strengthen social cohesion and resilience, by bringing together the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) and the civilian population.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the association’s president, Alassane Zoubga, mentioned that the initiative was born from the desire to actively support the vision of Captain Ibrahim TraorE and his commitment to the reconquest of the national territory. “We, the VDP in the city, believe it is our duty to organize activities that accompany this initiative. It is a duty to support the FDS and the VDP, because they make every sacrifice to defend the country,” he said, emphasizing the importance of magnifying and encouraging these fighters.

The tournament brings together eight teams made up of military, paramilitary and security forces, all from the BoulkiemdE province. The matches will be played throughout the weekend. For this first phase, the competition is taking place in the BoulkiemdE province, with matches scheduled in Koudougou, Poa, Sabou, Thyou, and Sourgou. Organizers have called on participants to demonstrate fair play and joy so that this maracana is a moment of unity and sharing.

The opening ceremony featured the first match, which saw the Municipal Police and the National Police face off. After a close encounter, the National Police won on penalties, thus validating their ticket to the next round. The evening’s matches continued with the qualifiers between Customs and Firefighters, and Military and Water and Forests.

Through this competition, the “My Faso First” association offers a healthy platform to promote understanding and camaraderie, while reaffirming the population’s unwavering support for its defense forces in the fight against terrorism.
