Mouhoun Editions Sidwaya Yacouba Belem Takes the Reins of the Regional Service

Dedougou: The Secretary General of Editions Sidwaya, Enock Kindo, installed the regional head of Editions Sidwaya for the Boucle du Mouhoun region, Yacouba Belem, who is an advisor in information and communication science and technology. He replaces Adama Sedgo, who has been appointed to new responsibilities at the central editorial office of the state-owned daily in Ouagadougou.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the handover ceremony, chaired by Enock Kindo, took place with the presence of the Director of Human Resources and that of Editorial. The ceremony was conducted with simplicity, highlighting the professional requirements of this strategic function. Enock Kindo emphasized the importance of rigorous work and the priority of quality over speed in information verification. He reminded attendees that Sidwaya focuses on reliable and credible information rather than sensationalism and encouraged Belem to actively engage in fieldwork.

Kindo assured the support of the hierarchy and urged the regional service to enhance the visibility of the national daily by providing quality information from the region. He praised the outgoing department head, Adama Sedgo, for his professionalism and invited him to maintain contact with Belem for continued support and experience sharing. Sedgo reflected on his tenure, expressing gratitude for his colleagues’ support, and advised Belem to communicate effectively and listen attentively.

Yacouba Belem expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and acknowledged the mission’s magnitude. He sought support from authorities, media, and local stakeholders to promote Sidwaya in Boucle du Mouhoun. Belem highlighted his readiness to rely on Sedgo’s advice and experience. This transition underscores the continuity and dynamism of Editions Sidwaya’s regional services, dedicated to providing credible local information.

The event was welcomed by journalists, media professionals, and staff, marking a significant step in strengthening local coverage and promoting the state-run daily’s influence. Since its inception, the Boucle du Mouhoun regional service has had three managers, with Belem’s appointment continuing the development of public media in the region. Prior to joining Editions Sidwaya in March 2025, Belem served in the Boucle du Mouhoun Regional Communications Department.
