Ouagadougou: Sierra Leonean President Julius Maada BIO has reaffirmed his nation’s support for Burkina Faso during a meeting with President Ibrahim TRAORE. The meeting took place as part of BIO’s friendship and working visit to Burkina Faso.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting, which included delegations from both countries, concluded with President BIO expressing solidarity with Burkina Faso. He emphasized the brotherly bond between the nations and committed to supporting efforts to restore peace in the country. “We are brothers; we cannot be divided. My visit is a gesture of solidarity, to show the President and people of Burkina Faso that they are not alone. We will do everything possible to bring peace back to this country,” BIO stated.
President BIO highlighted the importance of development and peace, urging countries in the sub-region to collaborate towards these goals. He noted that this was his second visit, indicating the importance of showing solidarity with a nation striving to overcome security challenges. He emphasized his representation of ECOWAS and Sierra Leone in this mission of support.
In addition to expressing solidarity, President BIO discussed strategies with President TRAORE to strengthen peace and unity among West African countries. He stressed the importance of preserving regional unity and shared his experiences as a former military leader and president during Sierra Leone’s challenging times.
