Sissili: 45 Illegal Fuel Outlets Closed During a Joint Operation in Leo and Bourra

Sissili: A rigorous control operation to combat fuel fraud and smuggling took place from September 11 to 13 in the town of Leo and the village of Bourra. This operation was conducted by the Regional Directorate of Industry, Commerce and Crafts (DRICA) of the Nando region, in collaboration with the Provincial Directorate of the National Police of Sissili and the Territorial Gendarmerie Brigade of Leo.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the operation aimed to enforce the provisions of press release no. 022-0021/MDICAPME/SG/BMCRF of December 29, 2022, which prohibits the sale of fuel in non-approved containers, such as bottles, cans, drums, and barrels, unless authorized by the competent authorities.

The operation resulted in the closure of 45 illegal fuel outlets, the summoning and fining of 35 individuals, and the seizure of 14,930 liters of fuel. Violations included non-compliance with regulatory conditions, lack of purchase invoices, and clandestine storage in unauthorized locations.

The Regional Director of Industry, Trade, and Crafts urged stakeholders in the commercial sector to comply with current regulations. He emphasized that these measures are intended to ensure consumer safety and maintain the region’s economic balance.
