U.S. and Qatar Reinforce Strategic Partnership in Seventh Strategic Dialogue

Washington, D.C.: Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani convened the seventh U.S.-Qatar Strategic Dialogue in Washington, D.C., signifying an enduring strategic partnership between the two nations under the leadership of President Donald J. Trump and His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in peace, security, and investment, with further talks scheduled for early 2026 on law enforcement, security cooperation, and cultural ties.

According to EMM, Prime Minister Al Thani praised President Trump’s efforts in ending the conflict in Gaza and fostering lasting peace in the Middle East. Secretary Rubio, on behalf of President Trump, expressed gratitude to His Highness the Amir and the Qatari government for mediating the Gaza Peace Plan and resolving regional conflicts. Both leaders supported stabilizing Syria and countering terrorism to boost its economy.

The talks underscored a robust U.S.-Qatari partnership, serving as a model for addressing global and regional challenges. Discussions included strategic priorities such as Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Afghanistan, and several African nations. Both countries emphasized their commitment to confronting threats through unity.

The dialogue highlighted strong economic ties, with significant deals secured, including Qatar Airways’ $96 billion agreement to purchase American aircraft and a $97 billion offer to U.S. Company Parsons. These deals are set to create substantial job opportunities in the U.S.

Defense and security cooperation were reaffirmed, with both nations enhancing regional deterrence and defense capabilities. Investments in military infrastructure at Al-Udeid Air Base and procurement of advanced military equipment were discussed, alongside a $2 billion deal with General Atomics.

In counterterrorism and law enforcement, the U.S. and Qatar emphasized their partnership in addressing threats and signed agreements to enhance security cooperation. Qatar pledged support for the 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup, co-hosted by the U.S.

Cultural and educational cooperation was also a focus, with renewed agreements between Qatar Museums and the Smithsonian Institution. Both countries plan to expand collaboration in arts, sports, and education.

The strategic dialogue reinforces the enduring partnership between the U.S. and Qatar, with both nations committed to continued cooperation across key global and regional issues. The next dialogue is set for Doha in 2026.
